Music on Instagram, TikTok and YouTube

Updated 2026-10-06

Using Instagram's own music, why it never goes into your mp4, and what to do on TikTok and YouTube.

Every platform has its own music library, and each one only lets that music be used inside the platform. Music copied out of Instagram, TikTok or YouTube and mixed into a video gets recognised and muted or blocked, worst of all on business accounts. So VidRocket never puts a platform's music into your file. Where the platform allows it, the platform adds the track itself when the video is posted.

Instagram
  • Pick it when you post. In the Publish sheet (the iPhone app and the website's editor), choose Use Instagram music, search or browse what's trending, play a preview, and pick one. Two sliders set the track's level and your video's own sound under it. Instagram adds the track when the Reel goes up.
  • The list is your account's. The search runs on your own connected Instagram account, so you only see what that account can use. Business accounts only get Meta's commercially cleared music. Creator accounts get more. The choice also depends on your country, and it is narrower than the picker inside the Instagram app.
  • Personal accounts can't post from apps (any app, not just VidRocket). Switch to a Creator or Business account in Instagram's settings, then connect it under Settings → Connected accounts.
  • If your video already has VidRocket music, Instagram's track would play on top of it. The Publish sheet offers a copy without our music for Instagram. It's charged like an export, and the other platforms still get the original.
TikTok

Videos go to your TikTok drafts. Open TikTok, add a sound there, and post. Business accounts only get TikTok's Commercial Music Library. If the video has VidRocket music, turn it down under Volume in TikTok, or send TikTok the copy without our music.

YouTube Shorts

YouTube doesn't let apps add its music. Your Short goes up with the music already in the video.

ChatGPT prompt reels (/gpt)

Include music from Instagram is on by default. VidRocket finds a track that suits the reel, which you can play and change before anything is made. With Time cuts to the beat on, every cut lands on the track's beat. Post to Instagram on the finished card posts the reel with that track attached.

VidRocket's own music

Music generated in VidRocket is licensed for commercial use, so it's safe on business accounts on every platform. Music you upload yourself is your responsibility.
